The ESSEC chair in Philanthropy just invited Professor Olivier Zunz, Commonwealth Professor of History at the University of Virginia, author of Philanthropy in America: A History (Princeton Unviersity Press, 2011). His book is now available in French under the title La Philanthropie en Amérique : Argent privé, affaires d’État (Fayard, 2012).
On October 10th, Pr. Zunz was guest speaker at a joint research seminar organized by the ESSEC chair in Philanthropy and the ESSC Center for Capitalism, Globalization and Governance. His lecture focused on "Capitalism and Philanthropy in the American Century" and was rooted in his former book, Why the American century? (University Of Chicago Press, 1998).
On October 11th, he was guest speaker at the chair's 10th Lunch & Learn seminar and presented the main thesis of his new book on American philanthropy, followed by a Q&A with the seminar's participants.
