Job Position 

RESEARCH FELLOW 

ESSEC INSTITUTE FOR SOCIAL INNOVATION
AND SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP (IIES) 

Starting April 2015 

With the launch in 2003 of the Chair in Social Entrepreneurship, followed, in 2009, by the Institute for Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship (IIES), ESSEC Business School has developed a unique expertise with respect to education and research in the fields of entrepreneurship, strategy and management of private initiatives serving the common good. 

Since March 2014, ESSEC IIES has been engaged in a three-year European research consortium on social innovation (ITSSOIN). The ITSSOIN project investigates the impact of the Third Sector and civic engagement on society, which goes beyond their economic benefits or the natural virtue of caring for others. This research project is coordinated by the Center for Social Investment (CSI) at Heidelberg University and gathers scientists from eleven research and public institutions across nine European countries. It is funded by a € 2,5 million grant from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Program for research, technological development and demonstration. 

RESEARCH FELLOW POSITION 

The ESSEC Institute for Social Innovation and for Social Entrepreneurship invites applications for a two-year Research Fellow position to contribute to the ITSSOIN project. 

The position opens in April 2015. 

We are looking for a highly motivated junior scholar with a European and international outlook whose research interests and skills are aligned with the ITSSOIN project. More specifically, the ESSEC contribution to the ITSSOIN project will be mainly in the field of work integration. 

The Research Fellow will work under the supervision of the Head of Research at ESSEC IIES, within the IIES team at ESSEC Business School’s main campus in Cergy-Pontoise (40 minutes from Paris). The work environment will be in English and in French. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. 

Applicants must demonstrate ability to:

  1. Conduct qualitative, field research;
  2. Meet the strict and frequent deadlines of the project;
  3. Coordinate communication with the European partners of the project, especially with Heidelberg University;
  4. Disseminate research findings through conferences and publications;
  5. Contribute to the research environment at IIES and participate to the IIES community by partaking in seminars, workshops etc.

Qualifications required:

  • Doctorate or PhD in management or social sciences
  • Knowledge of and interest for the field of work integration and/or social innovation
  • Ability to publish academic papers in leading, peer-reviewed journals
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Fluent English and French
