Amélie Mernier is Associate Research Fellow at the ESSEC chair in Philanthropy.
She holds a Master in Actuarial Science (2007) and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a major in Economics (2005) from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Belgium. She is currently undertaking a PhD in Management Sciences at the University of Liège in the framework of the Baillet-Latour Chair in Philanthropy and Social Investment, under the co-supervision of Anne-Claire Pache.
Her research focuses on the strategies of philanthropic organizations in Belgium (PhD thesis) and also on the governance of foundations and issues relating to the public interest.
Before starting her doctoral studies in 2012, Amélie Mernier worked for several years in the finance industry. As an actuary, she has accumulated various experiences in the field of non-life insurance, asset-liability management as well as consulting in risk management.
