The ESSEC Philanthropy Chair enjoys the multi-yearsupport of five partners, companies or foundations, recognised for their expertise in the field of philanthropy. Thanks to their long-term commitment, the chair's team can perform its mission and carry out research activities, while remaining rooted in the practice and the challenges on the ground. Partner organisations are involved in defining the strategic priorities of the chair in a steering committee, which is gathered twice a year.
With 45 years of experience, Fondation de France is France’s biggest philanthropy network. In every area of public interest, Fondation de France acts in the present and prepares for the future, by meeting the needs of vulnerable people, and by funding innovative, progressive solutions in the areas of medical research, the environment, education, culture or training.
With 775 foundations under its auspices, it plays a key role for the development of philanthropy : it contributes to the promotion of the foundations sector and to its professionalization, and it encourages the spread and influence of French philanthropy beyond the borders.
The Daniel & Nina Carasso Foundation is a strategic partner of the chair.
The Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation was established in 2010, under the aegis of the Fondation de France, in memory of Daniel Carasso, founder of Danone in France and Dannon in the USA, and his wife. The Foundation is very much a family organization, without any link with the food company. On its Executive Committee sit its president, Marina Nahmias (daughter of Daniel & Nina), her family and individuals with expertise in their fields of work.
The Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation works to fund projects in two areas of great importance for human development: Sustainable Food systems and Diets, as well as Art in the Community
Since 2010, the Foundation has grown very fast, spending around 25 million euros to support around 300 projects in its two main fields of action, either directly or through partnerships with the Fondation de France.
The Foundation has a staff of 7 people, led by its executive director, Marie-Stéphane Maradeix, with headquarters in Paris, a country office in Madrid, and a regional one in Montpellier.
The Edmond de Rothschild Foundations are a strategic partner of the chair.
The Edmond de Rothschild Foundations are founded on the timeless values of humanism, excellence, and sharing. Just as generations before, we proudly embrace our call to social responsibility and innovation.
The Foundations develop a strategic vision of philanthropy that promotes the dignity and empowerment of each individual. Education is at the heart of our mission, whether in arts and culture, social entrepreneurship or health. Our international network is a vibrant and diverse collection of projects and partnerships. We support promising local initiatives, forge innovative models, and share experience. We employ an entrepreneurial approach to giving and seek to professionalize the social sector. We recognize multiple identities and celebrate diversity. We go where others are absent—we go where we are not expected.
At the Edmond de Rothschild Foundations, we believe in a philanthropy that is rigorous and based on sharing. We strive continuously to improve our impact and thrive upon the boundlessness of human potential.
