With 45 years of experience, Fondation de France is France’s biggest philanthropy network. It brings together founders, donors, volunteer experts, employees and thousands of organizations, all of them committed and driven by the will to act. In every area of public interest, Fondation de France acts in the present and prepares for the future, by meeting the needs of vulnerable people, and by funding innovative, progressive solutions in the areas of medical research, the environment, education, culture or training.

With 775 foundations under its auspices, it plays a key role for the development of philanthropy: it contributes to the promotion of the foundations sector and to its professionalization, and it encourages the spread and influence of French philanthropy beyond the borders.

Fondation Caritas France was created in 2009 by Secours Catholique, the French branch of Caritas Internationalis, to reinforce fight against all aspects of poverty. 

Fondation Caritas France collects donations and redistributes grants in favor of pioneer sustainable initiatives run by local actors, in France and overseas. 

As a sheltering foundation, it helps individuals, families and companies, to easily create and administer their own foundation.

The Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation was established in 2010, under the aegis of the Fondation de France, in memory of Daniel Carasso, founder of Danone in France and Dannon in the USA, and his wife. The Foundation is very much a family organization, without any link with the food company. On its Executive Committee sit its president, Marina Nahmias (daughter of Daniel & Nina), her family and individuals with expertise in their fields of work.

The Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation works to fund projects in two areas of great importance for human development: Sustainable Food systems and Diets, as well as Art in the Community.

Since 2010, the Foundation has grown very fast, spending around 48 million euros to support around 570 projects in its two main fields of action, either directly or through partnerships with the Fondation de France. The Foundation has a staff of 12 people, led by its executive director, Marie-Stéphane Maradeix, with headquarters in Paris, a country office in Madrid, and regional ones in Montpellier and Bordeaux.

Jerôme Kohler (ESSEC 92) is the founder of L’Initiative Philanthropique, a European consulting firm of philanthropic advisers for strategic philanthropy. Prior to this activity, Mr. Kohler worked at Fondation de France, was Head of Philanthropy at L’Oréal, Adviser to the President of the Louvre, and Executive Director of the American Friends of the Louvre. A former President of Paris-Musées, he is a board member of Friends and Patrons of the Opéra Comique, Entreprendre pour Aider Fund, as well as a member of the steering committee of Culture and Diversité Foundation. He participates to numerous expert networks on philanthropy.

Jean-Pierre Scotti (ESSEC 75) is a cofounder and President of Greffe de Vie foundation, which aims to encourage organ donation, to foster removal and transplant activities, to improve the patients’ lives and to further medical research. Mr. Scotti is a serial entrepreneur and a former president of the ESSEC House. He is also President of CSA Finance, Coach Invest, and Treasurer of the Academy of Medicine Foundation.

Antoine Vaccaro holds a doctorate in organization science - Management of nonprofit organizations, Paris-Dauphine, 1985. After a career in major NGOs and communication agencies (Fondation de France, Médecins du Monde, TBWA), he is chairman of CerPhi (Center for Research and Studies on Philanthropy), Faircom International and Fundraising Lab. He is board member of various associations and foundations. He teaches at Sciences Po Paris. He is also co-founder of several professional organizations promoting private funding of common good causes: French Fundraisers Association, Comité de la Charte, Euconsult and the ESSEC Philanthropy Chair. He has authored several books and articles on philanthropy and fundraising.

Admical  and the ESSEC Philanthropy Chair worked together on various issues such as assessing the impact of corporate philanthropy or the institutionalisation of new professions related to philanthropy in large French companies. The purpose of this research project, based on a partnership since February 2012, is to understand how corporate philanthropy appeared and developed in large French companies over the past thirty years (1980-2010). We focus on the "corporate philanthropy officer" profession to analyse the process of emergence, growth, and integration of corporate philanthropy.

The French Fundraisers Association developed the French Fundraising Certificate, the reference among professional training programs in fundraising, together with the ESSEC Philanthropy Chair. The certificate is primarily for professionals in charge of fundraising in nonprofit and public organisations, but also targets professionals wishing to further their careers in fundraising. 

The French Centre of Funds and Foundations mobilised the expertise of the ESSEC Philanthropy Chair to create a new program on asset management for funds and foundations. The objective of this program was to assist these organisations in crafting a strategy of asset management that fits their mission, values, and time horizon. In addition, we worked closely on a research project aimed at raising awareness on and understanding family philanthropy in France.
